This web site is dedicated to the water garden and garden pond hobby, with emphasis on achieving a healthy environment for fish and plants. Here you'll find articles and essays written by very knowledgeable individuals on many subjects. The first subject is the most important, WATER QUALITY. Hopefully this site will help newcomers to the hobby avoid some of the costly mistakes made by myself and others.

When I first became involved in fish farming in 1987 I was fortunate enough to meet someone who was a third generation fish farmer. One of the first things he told me is "You're going to lose fish". Well, I did! Not because I didn't have the information I needed, but because I didn't take it seriously enough. With water gardening it's been my observation that "most" people start digging first, and asking questions later.

A water garden can include anything from a barrel or old bathtub used to raise aquatic plants all the way up to a multi-thousand-gallon koi pond. If you are planning a garden pond, do your home work before you turn the first shovel. It will save you a lot of time, not to mention money.
