Copper Around The Pond

Since I've been visiting several pond forums over the past few years I've noticed several post expressing concern about using copper ornaments, flashing, or source water running through copper pipes. Where it's true that too much copper in the water would be toxic to the fish, it is also true that a small amount is beneficial. Copper form ornaments, etc. cannot leach into the pond water unless the water is very acidic, and if that were the case, that low of pH would be more harmful to the fish than the copper.

If your pond is maintained properly and regular water changes are performed, you shouldn't have any problems.
